Writing a book can be hard, but without the right cover art, it may not sell the way that you want it to.
Now that the book is done, the writer may think that it's all that they need to do and all they need is to sit back and wait for the publisher to make their book a reality. The thing is that what they may not be thinking about is the art that will help sell the book that they worked so hard to get just write. Who Decides What the Cover Looks Like? There are many ways that cover art can be decided. Most of the time it's the publisher that has the shots done and put together, but some authors are also getting a chance to really make their book their own. There are some publishers that are letting the authors decide what the art should look like. They may be able to tell them about the high points in the book that make the art so important in selling it. Self published authors are always in control of the art that is on the book that they have done. They may hire someone that will help them to create the art or they may do it on their own. If they do decide that they are going to do their own art, they might want to consider talking to someone that knows what will look good for the cover before they start designing it. That will help them to get the most out of the design that they have on the cover of the book. What Looks Good On The Cover? There are many looks that may make a cover great. It will greatly depend on what kind of book the author will be writing. Many young adult books have some really lovely cover art on them and others are clean with only the name of the book on them. They may even colorful if they are written for young children as well. Whatever the cover art is that is decided on; it will be the choice of the author or the publisher that is releasing the book. The cover art of the book is what will sell the book to most people. If they like that cover, then they figure that they will probably like the book as well. If any writer wants to make their book sell well, they will have to understand what the book will really be about and what the cover should convey. That way they will sell more of the book and make the most money possible and maybe even be able to quite their day job.
